Composed of four friends who love salsa, GSO Salseros is a local group that embodies an international community. Members of this group represent the Dominican Republic, Venezuelan, Jamaican, and Colombian community. One member, Maria Gonzalez, was a fundamental partner in bringing National Dance Day to GSO when it started in 2017. Through her partnership and help, Dance Day GSO became one of the downtown parks biggest events. However, Maria never expected to end us as a performer for the event. “We are a rich cultural city and each of us have rhythms inside of us from our upbringings. We’re here to represent our Latin American heritage and share a little bit of ourselves with the community. We’re not professional dancers, just friends who like to come together through dance. National Dance Day is so valuable for our community because it shows that dance is for everyone. We hope that next year we can gather as a community again and dance together under the international flags in LeBauer Park.”

Your Support Means a lot
Like all of our programs at Greensboro Downtown Parks, National Dance Day GSO is free to attend every year. We're proud to put this event on, showcasing the talented performing artists of our local community. Especially this year, when the corona virus pandemic has taken an incredible toll on non-profits like us, artists, and the entire creative sector, we're grateful to have this event as a shining example of what coming together looks like, even when we have to be apart. Support from individuals and sponsor organizations is critical to bolstering the work of the local arts and culture economy. You can lend your support by donating or becoming a Friend of the Park and help us continue to bring free programs to the public.
We especially want to thank generous sponsors for helping us to put this virtual event on this year:
