A Trained Dog Is A Happy Dog!

Writer: gsodowntownparksgsodowntownparks

Why is it not just good but grrrreat to train our dogs? Megan Blake, The Pet Lifestyle Coach®, has a zillion reasons but here are her Top 5:

1. A trained dog knows what to expect, what he’s supposed to do, and what will happen, which makes him much more relaxed and, therefore, happy!

2. A trained dog does what is expected of him so his person is happier and more relaxed, so he's more happy and relaxed!

3. A trained dog can do lots of fun things with their person like go for walks without turning into a maniac, ride in the car without climbing all over the driver, maybe even become a therapy dog! All these fun activities keep him much more stimulated and therefore… happier!

4. If your adopted dog is shy or came from an environment that kept him frightened, then when he's trained, he gains confidence and trust, so he’s much much happier.

A trained dog doesn’t have to think as much as a non-trained dog. This sounds totally counter intuitive, but think about it this way: If your dog isn’t trained, she constantly has to figure out who is at the door, should she bark, should she protect you, where should she be, where should she sit, whose bowl is that, can she eat that food on the coffee table????? You get the idea. Train your dog, and they will rely on you to do the thinking, so they can relax and be a happy dog!

And we are all super happy because Megan Blake’s Dog Class is returning to LeBauer Park live!! This Sunday and every Sunday at 4:30 on the South Lawn! Bring your dog on his leash and wear your mask!
